Meet the Staff

Welcome to ROOM

ROOM is a study for gay and bisexual men who are between the ages of 18-55, who are sexually active, and have used alcohol or drugs in the last 90 days. 

The ROOM Project guys "working the booth" at the 2009 Stonewall Street Festival. 

What is ROOM?

ROOM stands for Reaching Out to Other Men.  At ROOM, we provide a safe place for gay and bi guys to come together and talk about things that are important to us, like intimacy, friendship, sexuality, partying, etc. 

We need eligible participants to come to one of our offices between 6-10 times over the span of a year.  Each visit ranges from 45 minutes to 2 hours.  Participants will be compensated $20-$50 in cash per visit.  

How do I get involved?

First, we must determine if you're eligible to participate in the study.  Feel free to call us at our office Monday through Friday between 9AM and 5PM.  Taking the phone-screening is easy!  We only need to ask you a few questions and it should only take about five minutes.

After the screening, eligible participants will begin by coming to one of our offices for a two-hour survey that will include questions about their health, recent behaviors, and attitudes towards the community.  After that, they will be randomly assigned to either (1) a discussion group or (2) an individual session with one of our staff.  Once they participate in either the individual or group sessions, they will be asked to come back to complete the two-hour survey again after three, six, and twelve months. 

It’s very important that you will be available to come in to complete the follow-up surveys over the course of the next year.
